Fares

As a young and/or disabled person, you can purchase a Disabled Persons or Young Persons railcard entitling you to up to a third off the price of many rail tickets.

Disabled people are entitled to free off-peak local bus travel within the local authority area they live in. To find out if you are eligible and to get an application form you need to contact your Local Authority or Passenger Transport Executive.

If your enquiry relates to a railway station, you will need to find out which company it’s operated by at Passenger Focus. Network Rail runs some of the largest train stations in the UK, including Manchester Piccadilly.

Door to Door - website of the Disabled Persons Transport Advisory Committee which advises the government on access for disabled people to transport. Their Door to Door information site has advice on travel and information on the facilities you can expect to be provided.

If you often find yourself locked out of station toilets, RADAR operate a National Key Scheme so disabled people can access around 5000 locked public toilets around the country.
